Camping on Kauai
Like on the other islands Big Iceland and Maui, we have camped on Kauai again. The campsites are located on beautiful beaches and places and the choice is again quite large.
Most campsites are in the hands of the counties, which means that the permits (permits) to camp by mail, Internet or in person must be requested in the Office of Lihue. The office is located in the Rice Street in Lihue, best ask for the building, which knows each resident. Some sites are against state administration. The building of this is just 100 meters.
Before I describe the individual parks, one in advance: As on the other islands, these
Even the locals like to celebrate festivals - every day and late at night. Since it is a loud voice. If that bothers that should better go to the hotel.
Advantage of all the camp: Per night it costs between 3 and 5 dollars to spend the night.
Here are the campsites that we have used or seen:
1) Kokee State Park - the nicest and calmest High up in the Waimea Canyon State Park, this camp is very quiet but also very lonely. It is not recommended if you are the only campers. The morning is very cold.
2) Haena Beach Park - at the Napali Coast Beautiful beach and many locals who make noise. Perfect if you want to hike the Napali Coast.
3) Salt Pond Beach - very beautiful, but full Beautiful beach and sit for many Pavililions (with electricity) for, great sunset, but many cats
4) Lucy Wright Park Straightforward and direct on the main road, the beach was very dirty in February 09
5) Anini Beach Park Schölner family beach, perfect for snorkeling, simple shower
6) Kalalau Beach - the Perfect This place is reached only after one has run the 11-mile Kalalau Trail. Very little going on, no sanitary facilities, but megageile beach and great view of the Napali Coast.
