It has therefore been removed, and has sorted all our stuff while emptying bags. Then we went to lunch and the first races to fill the urgent fridge. In the afternoon we walked along the beach of Waikiki, and as it was Sunday, many people on the beach in bright sunshine.

We went to the aquarium, and then reassembled to the marina. We visited a few hotels luxury, reserved for the night at HULA Grill, on a terrace near the beach for 18 hours, just to watch the sunset, taking a drink before a meal made of fish (tuna fish for me and my sweet moon, after Jacques scallops scallops, followed by an excellent local dessert!

This morning we went back our car. Small walking tour of 2.5 km in Honolulu. Finally arrived at the agency, we recovered the car. And we’re off on the roads of Oahu for a walk this afternoon while along the coast to beautiful beaches.

Back tonight in Waikiki, we saw the sunset.
Back in the room, cocktails and dinner soon…

We are now well installed in Waikiki, and begin to get our bearings. Here the traffic is hell, and caps as famous as those of Los Angeles! Anyway, the GPS is trying to avoid them.

We started the day by looking for a parts supplier for our Pontiac Firebird. Before leaving I checked the Pontiac to prepare for survey. I realized that there was loose in the front wheel bearings.

I dismounted to adjust, but on these cars is all set with recent and it is impossible to make an adjustment as I did on the Trans-Am. Then I found the full directory of Honolulu societies like AD but 10 xs bigger! I chose one near the airport and we went there. No problem there, I found the two hubs in stock full of wheels. I also took the opportunity to buy some tools that are not found on our old continent.

Then, almost obligatory passage: a visit to the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. The Arizona sank during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 12.7.1941, and lying in the middle of the harbor with more than a thousand sailors dead inside. A memorial was erected just above.

It is reached by boat (military!) After passing through a screening room that reminds you why and how this came about. It’s pretty impressive, even if one has already seen the films “Pearl Harbor” and “Tora! Tora! Tora!” This is something to be at this place where so much blood flowed … in order to generate other effusions….

Then start to Plantation Village. This place brings over thirty homes that have housed, through time, workers, leaders and patrons of sugar cane plantations in Hawaii. We start by visiting a small museum that explains life on the plantations … Life was not easy! There were over 395,000 people who immigrated to Hawaii to work in the fields of sugar cane. These people came mostly from Asia, the Philippines, China, Japan, Puerto Rico, and oddly Portugal. The visit lasted two hours and was very informative. Then we went to Ewa Beach, a beach that offers a magnificent view of Honolulu and Waikiki.
Back then, traffic jams, shopping, eating, sleeping…

The day begins with a visit to the Flea Market located at the perimeter of the Stadium (huge, by the way).
There are hundreds of vendors offering all sorts of items, from Hawaii of course, but especially the “Made in China”! Everything is offered at prices far cheaper than those found in Waikiki for identical items (at least 50% off!).

So we shopped whose beautiful Hawaiian shirts (the real!) For me, and “pieces of tissue for my sweet. Then, after more than three hours in this market, we went up north to visit Dole Plantation. It’s the pineapple plantation the best known. Is a small train takes us through the pineapple fields and a variety of other coffee plantations from the banana through the sugar cane. We continue with a visit to a botanical garden very well equipped and include many varieties of plants and flowers. I did a lot of photos. A good ice … pineapple (great!) and to conclude this visit, if the heart and the time you said, a small turn in the maze … (The course record is 17 minutes …).

Then back to the hotel (with traffic jams …) to prepare ourselves to take a bath on the beach at Waikiki while watching the sunset…

Hawaii is one of the major American cruise destinations. All major U.S. shipping companies to send ships to Hawaii: Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Holland America and some others.

The usual ports are Hawaii Honolulu, Kona, Hilo, Nawiliwili and Kahului. The most significant is the cruise terminal in the port of Honolulu, where most cruises begin.

Hawaii is ideal for a cruise, since the condition as an island group, blend harmoniously with the great advantage of a sea voyage: the most visited Hawaii during their vacation several islands, what to pack again and travel needs. On a cruise ship is the hotel’s own movable and can leave his baggage at the cozy cabin while exploring the various Hawaiian Islands. The wait times at ports are very well chosen: Mostly to get there early in the morning and travels only at night again, so you can look at the island in peace. In part, this ship is also two days in a row in a port.

We then have the opportunity either a trip on board the ship to book or go on your own the ship. Modern cruise ships are very well equipped. Well appointed rooms, good food, great spa and pool deck areas must not shy away compared to a hotel on land.

A major advantage of a cruise is that within a week of various islands are run without the tourists constantly must pack his bags to travel to the next hotel.

An interesting route offers the operator Norwegian Cruise Line. The ship Pride of America is a year-round in the waters of Hawaii on duty and driving there a seven-day route. It runs through different ports of Honolulu, Kahului, Hilo, Kona and Nawiliwili. Therefore makes the Pride of America twice, on Oahu (start and end port is Honolulu) and Big Iceland (Hilo and Kona), and once established on Kauai and Maui.

Norwegian Cruise Line is an international shipping company for German guests booked as. A very attractive package is the combination of a 7-day cruise with a further 7 days hotel stay on land. Travel agencies can offer individual deals with flight.

Officially, he is now Waiopae Tidepools Marine Life Conservation District. As part of this change, the area was also provided with a parking lot and signs. Often, also an employee of the marine biology faculty of the University of Hawaii on site to give visitors information.

Snorkeling in the Kapoho Tidepools is fabulous. In the tide pools are beautiful corals are in different colors. Also, various species of tropical fish have their home.

But: The Kapoho Tidepools are indeed highly recommended for snorkeling, though they will have little opportunity to do something else. On the sharp lava rock can not be set so that associated with sunbathing swimming less an option.

Incidentally, not far from the Kapoho Tidepools is the Ahalanui Park with its thermal pools.

Therefore, various sea creatures the old pier has discovered it as a habitat.

Now it is found in the area around the Old Mala Pier to various fish and coral species and marine turtles frequently. The inter-sting area is located north of the intact part of the Lahaina pier. The remaining, undamaged part should be avoided during a diving trip, however, as visibility is restricted and some lurking danger.

The area of the sunken remains is to study very interesting. You should bring light, as some beautiful coral formations are hidden under the Pierre Sten. Likely to discover something spectacular on every dive. The depth is only about 10 m in good light conditions of about 20 m.

Many divers call the Lahain Pier as excellent or even the best spot for diving on the island of Maui. In heavy seas a dive is not advisable, as the remnants of the Old Pier Mala is not protected and thus result in strong currents. If possible, you should ask for a suitable site up point. Note also the boat traffic in this area. Newcomers to the Lahain Pier should join a guided dive tour is therefore essential.

The Lahaina Pier is located between the Lahaina Cannery Mall on the north and to the Lahaina Jodo Mission Budhist Cultural Park in the south and has a parking place that is accessible from the Front Street.

Hawaii has a wonderful tropical climate that will be perfect for the traveler seeking sunny skies and gentle ocean breezes. The free local weather radar averages annual temperature of hawaii is about 24°C (about 75°F) varies little from summer to winter. The rainy season lasts from December to March. Winter brings about twice as much rain as summer, when the rain is more likely to take the form of passing showers. Northeasterly trade winds prevail for most of the year. The high volcanic mountains trap these trade winds, blocking clouds and bringing rainfall to the windward side of the islands. Hilo receives an average of 3,302mm (130 inches) per annum, making it the rainiest city in the USA. The southwesterly, or leeward sides of the islands naturally have dry, sunny conditions and calmer waters. In general, leeward areas receive about 254 to 635mm (10 to 25 inches) of rain per annum.

Snow falls on the peaks of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa in winter. Mauna Kea is the state’s coldest spot; the lowest temperature ever measured there was -12°C (11°F)
