HAWAII HEALING GARDEN FESTIVAL

 
Place: 82-6188 Mamalahoa Hwy, Captain Cook, HI 96704, 808-638-0888 Date: 11/1/2008 through 11/6/2008 A statewide celebration of multi-cultural medicinal and nutritional plants of Hawaii. Polynesian, Hawaiian, Ayurvedic, Chinese, Filipino, cultural practitioners and ethno-botanists, will share their knowledge of Hawaii's rich botanical treasures. Featuring lectures, tours, workshops, adult and children's programs, a Healing Arts Fair and cultural entertainment.The Big Island Festival starts November 1-2 with Saturday's Fetsival Day Celebration and Sunday's Workshop & Tour Day at Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden. Additional tours, classes and workshops will be held Monday November 3, though Thursday November 6, at unique locations around the Big Island. align="left">The Hawaii Healing Garden Festivals are held on the islands of Kauai, Oahu, Maui and Hawaii Island from June through November 2008.

Each island hosts a Festival celebration day of fun educational events, a health fair, healthy food and cultural entertainment. The festivals are family friendly events, with programs for adults, young adults and kids.

The days following the festival feature workshops, organic farm tours, cooking classes, and many other special events, each at unique locations around each island.

Come Celebrate the  multi-cultural healing arts of Hawaii. Polynesian, Hawaiian, Ayurvedic, Chinese, and Filipino, cultural practitioners and ethno-botanists will share their knowledge of Hawaii's rich botanical treasures and cultural traditions. Many events are Free!

Plus a Healthy Hawaii Expo The Health fair features Health and Wellness services, natural products, organic goods, and book and plant sale. A non-profit section will feature community groups & educational presenters. This will be open mid morning and support the festival and entertainment. The Hawaii Healing Garden brings educational opportunities to each island's unique community of residents and visitors, by creating tours and workshops at locations around each island. Working with botanical gardens, organic farms, restaurants, universities & colleges, organizations, private residents and businesses to create tours and workshops for all ages and interests. From cooking classes, medicine making workshops, to organic farm tours, and Hawaiian cultural immersions. The Hawaii Healing Garden programs are fun, educational, real life experiences, empowering the community with healthy attitudes and behavior. Most events are FREE depending on location. (Some tours & workshops require fees to cover material, guides or access. All additional fees will be indicated in programs and advertising.)
Nurture the Garden! The Hawaii Healing Garden Festivals are a community collaboration, focused on nurturing a healthy environment and creating healthy community. With help from generous funding, donations, support and guidance, the seeds of this event continue to grow to support all of those who journey through the Hawaii Healing Garden. An open invitation is extended to the local and international community of educators, botanists, gardeners, cultural practitioners, health practitioners, herbalists, healers, healthy food & product providers, musicians, dancers and performers, to participate in the entertaining and educational programs and health fairs. Businesses, organizations, service providers, and nonprofit groups are invited to educate, promote their services, and sell their products at health fair booths. Volunteers are invited to help in creating an amazing, and fun Festival for each islands community of residents and visitors. Sponsors are invited to support the many events and programs statewide and unique to each island.  Contributions to this program of festivals help educate and empower healthy communities and nurture sustainable relationships to the environment.
