Hawaii: Interesting Oahu
Nicknamed "Island of Love" is the most populated island, developed and known throughout the archipelago. The most evocative places in Hawaii are all here: Honolulu, Waikiki, Pearl Harbor and Sunset Beach. Honolulu, the state capital and the main point of entry and exit for tourists, along with Waikiki form a continuum characterized by urban highways and skyscrapers: a cross between Miami Beach and the center of Tokyo. This area focuses much of the tourist facilities on the island.
A short distance from town are beautiful beaches, crystal clear bays, choppy mountains and valleys covered in pineapple plantations. The beaches for surfing are legendary (Banzai Pipeline, Sunset Beach, Makaha), but the island also offers excellent opportunities forlovers of bodysurf (Makapuu Beach, Waimea Bay), windsurfing (Kailua Bay), the snorkeling (Hanauma Bay) and diving (Three Tables and Shark's Cove nearby).
